Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
-
We are a large choir (almost 70 members) but are limited in the number of singers we can accept, due to the capacity of the venue we use. As of January 2025, we are fully subscribed and currently have a waiting list for new members.
-
We rehearse each Wednesday evening from 6:30pm (arrival time) until 8:45pm at the Catholic Church on Station Road in the centre of Totnes.

As a choir we are continually developing and under the guidance of our Musical Director Ruairi, our singing together has gone from strength to strength. Consistent attendance is the key to this development and is essential to help us grow together as a choir. We therefore ask that members do not miss more than 3 rehearsals per term. If this is not possible for you - perhaps due to work or family commitments, or you spend time away for long periods - then this is probably not the choir for you.
-
Currently our fees are £110/term (£55/half term). This covers all costs including the venue, tuition and music tracks. As a subscription choir our fees are paid in advance - either termly or half termly.
We try to keep our fees as low as possible and budget accordingly. As such, we are unable to give refunds for any missed rehearsals. We only offer concessions to those who would find it hard to pay the full fee (NB: age and pension status are not considered reasons for granting a concession.)
-
Yes - we are a choir for adults with a minimum age of 18 years.
-
Yes - only paying members may sing with us. Our rehearsals are only open to paying members: as such, we are unable able to welcome any children or pets to accompany our members and do not have space for friends or family to sit in and listen.
-
If you do not pay on time (prior to the start of each new half-term) and we do not hear from you, we will assume you have left the choir and we will offer your place to someone else on the waiting list. You may re-apply and be placed back on the waiting list until there is a vacancy in your section.
-
Yes we do! They are advertised on our website and by word of mouth and are proving very popular. Be warned - tickets sell out incredibly quickly!

We are a very popular choir and currently have a waiting list for new members.
To start, please get in touch with us to register your interest and go onto the waiting list. When a place becomes available you will be offered a “taster” session to see if this choir is really for you.
If you are keen to join after the taster, you will be invited to a short audition with our Musical Director. This consists of some pitching exercises to assess which vocal range you best fit (soprano, alto, tenor or bass) and a short section on harmony singing.
If successful you will be invited to pay the remainder of the termly subscription and start attending asap!
If you would like to join the waiting list, please register your place via our registration form.
