Choirs can be serious. Is this one fun?

Yes! We exist because we know that singing is about the most fun thing there is. And that’s not an exaggeration. The proven benefits of regular singing in a group are off the scale – it’s about the best thing you can do for yourself as a human being. That’s why we do it.

Does it mean only singing classical music?

Absolutely not. Classical music is part of it, but only a part. The rest is folk, gospel, pop, songs from around the world. Anything and everything – all in rich 4-5 part harmony.

Do I need to be able to read sheet music?

No! Although we’ll be using it sometimes within rehearsals, there is no requirement that you need to have prior experience – we’ll be learning how to do that within the rehearsals themselves.

It’s an auditioned choir. Why?

‘Audition’ is a scary word with a lot of connotations. The reason for an audition is to check whether you feel comfortable pitching and holding a harmony line. That’s because we’ll be moving at a slightly faster pace than in a non-auditioned choir. The audition itself will take about 10 minutes and it involves some simple call and response exercises and a range discovery. Most people ultimately find it to be a very rewarding process.
